We Will Breathe Again

By Apostle Michele A. Rucker

The current climate of the nation, the political issues, COVID-19, and the injustices that we have been plagued with; this has left us breathless. This chaos has affected our ability to breath physically, mentally, and spiritually. COVID has impacted our physical ability to breathe. The political and social injustices have impacted our mental ability to breathe. And they all have impacted our spiritual ability to breathe. For some Christians, the inability to fellowship on a Sunday morning has thrown them into withdrawal. This fight for our lives has worn us down; left us in some ways hopeless and in despair. Help! We cannot breathe!

The divide is getting wider with each passing day. The social distancing, limited, no gatherings or travel; political views and racial tensions have split our society in pieces. The enemies of our soul are working together to wreak havoc on our families, bodies, incomes, and our ability to fight spiritually. We have no normal to go back to. We have no comfort zone in our lives. Our stability has been shaken. Help! We still cannot breathe!

I have great news for you. We will breathe again. Hope is not lost. It has been only misplaced. You see, we have placed our hope and expectation on temporal things. Going into this pandemic, and dealing with the social and political issues, we should have had our hope in the Eternal. Only the eternal things will last. The Eternal will never fail us. Those eternal things are the promises of God. And the Eternal is God.

Our hope got misplaced when we were too comfortable in our daily routines and patterns of life. We took our relationships, even our relationship with God for granted. We put too much faith in our jobs for provision. We trusted our civic, state, and national leadership so much that we were not vigilant in our prayers for integrity, honor, honesty, and wisdom. So, when the bottom fell out in areas of life, we lost our breath. We had panic attacks, suicides, and despair. We dealt with this the wrong way. We, the Saints of God, join the world in its dysfunction. We should have been the answer, the light.

Like I said before, there is good news. We will breathe again. Our Heavenly Father is not going to let you die in this mess. There will be glory after this. We must repent for our shortcomings, our doubt, our loss of focus. Make a daily request for Holy Spirit to reveal “Truth” in every area that there is no longer deception or frustration. Allow Him to heal you of, deliver you from and restore to you all that concerns you.

The Bible says in Proverbs 4:7, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.” With wisdom and understanding, the negative power of misunderstanding or ignorance will no longer dictate your feelings or emotions. Understanding empowers you to be the solution and/or seek the Solution.

The understanding I received from the current climate of this world is that Father God is using this to get our houses (spirit, soul, and body) in order. He is resetting us. We have been given the opportunity to see ourselves as He sees us right now. We need to get back to the altar of God. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;” (Hebrews 12:2a) and “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy” (Jude1:24). With that said, when we find ourselves struggling to breathe, we must call on the Name of Jesus. Not on our government, not our employers, not our family members, not even our Pastors. Only on God. He is our Provider, our Strength, our Sustainer, our Deliverer, our Way maker. If we do not ask, we cannot receive. This is what I understand, ONLY GOD.

Psalm 121 says it best.

1 I will lift mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Only God can deliver us from this chaos. He will make our way prosperous during pandemic. But we must make Him truly Lord in our life and over our life. Will there be a surrender today? Will we let Him take back the reins of our life? He is the only way we will be able to breath. The surrender gives Holy Spirit (the breath of God) the ability to work out the plans of our lives.

We will breathe again. This time we will breathe with the help of God. Our respirator will not be of human hands but the Word of God, Holy Spirit, and constant fellowship with God, Himself.

I am breathing again!
