"Waiting in the Wilderness"

Updated: Nov 2

The Stillness Between

There are seasons when the path disappears beneath our feet.

When the map fades, the sky is silent, and the only sound is the echo of our own questions.

This is the wilderness—not a punishment, but a pause.

A sacred in-between where faith is refined.

The wilderness is not the absence of God.

It is the place where we learn to recognize His presence without the props.

Where manna falls in quiet ways.

Where water flows from unlikely places.

Key Bible Verses for Wilderness Waiting

  • Isaiah 43:19 – “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”   God promises renewal and provision even in desolate places.

  • Deuteronomy 8:2 – “And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart…”   The wilderness is a place of heart refinement and divine guidance.

  • Luke 4:1 – “And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness.”   Even Jesus was led into the wilderness—by the Spirit—for preparation and testing.

  • Isaiah 35:1-2 – “The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus…”   God brings joy and beauty to barren seasons.

  • Psalm 63:1 – “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you… in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”   A cry of longing and trust from the wilderness.

  • Exodus 13:21 – “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way…”   God’s presence leads us even when the path is unclear.
