Whom Do Men Say I Am? But God Says…

ree

"Who do people say that I am?" — Jesus asked this question not for affirmation, but to reveal a deeper truth. The disciples answered with names: John the Baptist, Elijah, one of the prophets. But then came the real question:

"But who do you say that I am?"

This question echoes through time, not just about Jesus—but about us.

We live in a world eager to define us:

- By our failures or successes.

- By our past, our pain, our performance.

- By our appearance, our status, our story.

But God speaks a different word.

He doesn’t ask for your résumé. He calls you by name. He doesn’t measure your worth by your wounds. He heals them and calls them holy. He doesn’t see you as broken. He sees

you as becoming.

God says:

- You are chosen, not overlooked.

- You are beloved, not tolerated.

- You are redeemed, not ruined.

- You are called, not cast aside.

Your identity is not a label—it’s a promise.

You are a dancer on the path of restoration.  A flame that refuses to be extinguished.

A crescent rising toward fullness. A radiant star in the story of redemption.

So, when the world asks, “Who do you think you are?”—you can answer with confidence:

I am who God says I am.
